I am looking for one that is under $150, has a lot of recipes. I don’t what website to look for them. My hubby always wanted one. He had been giving me hints that he wants one badly. He loves beer. It will make him happy when he gets it for father’s day. Please help find the right one and best one for him. thanks!

You can do a search and see if there is a homebrew store in your area. If there is, they can give you more information and options than anyone on the net can. They sell the stuff, they have used it, and they were all beginners once too.

If not, there are several reputable websites to look at.

http://homebrewhq.com/
This is my local homebrew store. They ship nationwide and offer really great prices. If you contact them and tell them what your looking for they will point you in the right direction. They also allow you to make custom kits as well buying the put together kits. When I went and bought my kit I had an idea of what I wanted. They were very helpful in replacing items from one of the regular kits to customize my kit.

As has been suggested already, I strongly suggest purchasing The Complete Joy of Homebrewing 3rd Edition by Charlie Papazian. It is very easy to grasp and you gain the passion for brewing beer that Charlie has the more you read.

You could start him out on a bare bones kit with every thing he needs to get started. Or you can get him a deluxe set that will help him as he gets more advanced. The website will explain everything to you and the people at the store will help you as well.

When it comes to deciding which beer kit to get him, I suggest a darker beer like a porter or stout, or even an IPA or Vienna Lager. The site will give you a choice on what beer kit is sent with it. These darker beers tend to be more forgiving when it comes to beginning, and can be a bit easier to brew.

Whatever you choose for him, he will love. Your giving him a wonderful and fulfilling hobby.

Best of luck!

my bf just bought his first house and i want to make him something really special and i wanted to do a beer bottle chandelier. All the kits ive found are really expencive and i know i could make it at home for less im just not sure of how. like the structure and what types of materials would work best and how to make it sturdy. I have access to all sorts of materials and tools so that wont be a problem. any help or suggestions would be awesome. thank you.

Honestly, I’d think your BF might think it was pretty cool if you did this kind of a project together. So my advice would be to gather the beer bottles, some wire, a good quality glass cutter, and some heavy wire for the chandelier frame (along with tools to bend/shape it). Then wrap that up and make it the present along with a picture of what you have in mind. You know your BF though, so use your own judgement. That said, I think LOTS of guys would relish the opportunity to work on such a project for themselves. So if your BF isn’t the type, perhaps ask one of his friends to help with the project.

Hurricane Alex Rain Water Beer, finally the taste testing! Also on tap Coopers Selection Wheat Beer canned kit beer taste testing.

After getting a fresh Coopers English Bitter kit from makebeer.net and it turned out fine, but tasting it in tandem with commercially bottled Coopers revealed I simply do not like the Pride of Ringwood hops that Coopers uses, I now needed to test a Coopers kit from my local brewshop. I’d made Coopers kits purchased from my local brewshop some time ago and they turned out poorly. Ruling out the hop bittering, was it my fermentation temperatures or was I getting damaged kits (shipped or stored to hot making them go bad before their expiration date) from my local brewshop? We finally find out in this video.

The bottom line in all homebrew beer making is if you, your family & friends like it, you’ve made a successful beer. Anyone who tells you differently isn’t, uh, well, honestly, isn’t anything.

Cheers, have a homebrew!

Homebrew Troubleshooting
4 Common Mistakes of Home Beer Brewing

The only way to keep up with the latest about Home Beer Brewing is to constantly stay on the lookout for new information. If you read everything you find about Home Beer Brewing, it won’t take long for you to become an influential authority.

The best time to learn about Home Beer Brewing is before you’re in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable Home Beer Brewing experience while it’s still free.
When you’re learning about something new, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.

Have you ever wondered if what you know about homemade beer is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on homemade beer.
There’s no doubt that the topic of homemade beer can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about homemade beer, you may find what you’re looking for in this article.
The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

The biggest single mistake made in home beer brewing is in the cleanliness of the beer making equipment. The trouble is most home beer brewing is done by men and for some reason cleanliness is not really seen as a macho trait so a quick rinse or a wipe down with a dirty cloth is often the extent of the cleaning many men will do, particularly if a few friends have got together for a home beer making (and drinking) session.
Look, there is nothing sissy or unmanly about making sure your home beer making equipment is clean and sanitised and it has a tremendous effect on the taste of your homebrew beer. Once you get into the routine of cleaning your homebrew equipment it will only take about 30-45 minutes and after a while it will become a habit so you will hardly notice doing it.
So come on, be a real beer brewing man and clean properly.

Another big mistake people make when starting to make homemade beer is not recording and making notes of everything they do during the home beer brewing process.
If you Brew an uncommonly good beer after previously getting mediocre results how will you know what you suddenly changed to get such a good result if you don’t have a record of the steps you have been taking during the brewing process?

The third biggest mistake people make when home beer brewing is always using the same yeast. This is a mistake made by most people who use the so called ‘Complete Home Beer Making’ kits. The yeast in those kits is often a very average ale yeast and has usually been sitting there too long.
To get the best results you really need to get some authentic yeast strains from a reputable yeast supplier. This yeast will be healthier and fresher and will enable you to brew a greater variety of beers, not to mention ensuring fermentation gets under way first time every time.

Finally, most people starting out to make homemade beer make the mistake of following the instruction on the home brew beer kits they buy. The reason this is a mistake is the home brew beer kits do not usually include boiling in their instructions. I am not going to go into the details here of why that makes a difference but when you next do some home beer brewing give it a try and taste the difference.

Well I hope this article has answered some of your home beer making questions but if you are serious about brewing excellent tasting beer rather than just something to get drunk on why not invest a few dollars in a good home beer brewing book and start making a homemade beer that is better than the commercially brewed beers?

Now you can be a confident expert on Homebrew Beer. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Homebrew Beer.
I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative.

Now that wasn’t hard at all, was it? And you’ve earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert’s word on Home Beer Brewing.
